Aircraftsman Ward was carrying out routine checks and maintenance on L1082 and tested the flaps without first looking underneath. A starter trolley was in the way which badly buckled the flap. Result: F292 action and 7 days stoppages of privileges!
News was received that the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) in France was in trouble. The German army had broken through in Holland and Belgium and was making huge advances with very little stopping them. A second thrust had come through the Ardennes and the BEF now found itself cut off from the bulk of the French army and was having to retreat to the Channel coast at Boulogne, Calais and Dunkirk.
